The daily live stream phase of Morning Journal is done for now. It would only make sense to resume live streaming if there is a significant audience to seed the process. And “daily” can only be the cadence if I can work full-time on the project.
The current phase is focused on building an audience for the newsletter. A big part of building an audience is locking in a consistent publishing cadence. I want to build up a cue of drafts. So that I can always work without hurry. I don’t need the pressure.

This process is still new, and I have been struggling to get a handle on the huge archive of material from Morning Journal. I look for ways to automate and speed up the process by getting everything transcribed to quickly scan through to find key points and ideas. What seems to make the most sense now is just listening back and jotting down things that stand out to me in my journal. It may not be the best use of my focus work time because I listened passively as I tidied my space. But maybe I can use it as an evening activity and use the morning to consolidate and type up my notes.

Made a few notes for the next newsletter issue slated for May 23. It will cover collaboration, and I want to share the story about Roderick and contrast that with Black Rose and Urban Theory.

Started the draft of the collaboration newsletter issue.

After a long while, I have gone deep into a newsletter draft. Still haven’t got the collaboration one ready, but I was able to start synthesizing my notes from my listening session, and it might be easier for me to get material together to publish.
I have been thinking about what to do on Discord. There seems to be an interesting opportunity to take advantage of what is already in place there and to use it as a platform to build audience.

Abandoned the old draft, left it sitting in drafts with all the others, and started one focused on prompts. I was going to do three prompts, but the third one didn’t seem to fit, so I will publish it with just two. Maybe I need the gods to smile on me so that I can write well. I will record a simple video and publish it on Monday morning.

Used the thread feature on SubStack and published these this posts about feedback and this one about self talk. I think deliverablility is an issue with that format as I noticed it ended up in the promo photo while my other posts were showing up in the primary folder in Gmail. I don’t know the difference in terms of visibility between doing threads and posting on notes. Might be worth doing both. I really don’t want to promote my own stuff on notes though.

I opened up Lulu, downloaded a template started the process of creating the print journal. I am overthinking it. A conversation with my biggest fan let me know how much it would be useful to have a print journal. I already knew but for whatever reason I am slow to put it together. Like two years slow. This article inspired me to move forward.

I opened up my master list of prompts and responded to it here. I have been hesitant to move forward with the project because, despite the positive feedback I received, I was not using the journaling process for myself.

The platform that I used for live streaming is closing down in a few days. I took a second to pin one of my favorite pieces of audio to the top of my profile. I thought about going live again at least once. And I also started playing around with OBS to go back into streaming with video as a way to get back into that routine. It was useful in terms of building a habit of showing up and doing something creative every day. I came across a segment from a stream that is giving me some food for thought. What is the biggest goal that I am actively pursuing?
